BlackRapid

So I've just splashed out on some new camera straps - I'd had enough trying to swing two cameras around at once using a belt clip (which works really well) and a normal shoulder strap. It's tricky trying to keep a camera from swinging off shoulder when using another... and when you're hands are full it's near impossible to catch.

Anyway, enough with the excuses.

Not me.
So yes, you might notice thats not me in the photo. Theres good reason: The thing you noticed before noticing it wasn't me was that he looks like a twat. So I haven't taken a photo of myself to upload. I'm not planning to wear it to social events and I think you're allowed to look like a massive nerd when the photographer at a wedding.

And you will look like a massive nerd regardless how much manly stubble and styled hair you have.

I'll be back with a review at some point.

Just one note to BR - given the straps cost so much (don't tell the wife), can you not afford better camera for the promo shots? The guy on the box is holding an old EOS1 film camera (weirdly coupled with a 50mm F1.2).

How hard can it be?

Right, some people need to get some professionals involved with their wedding photography.

Or if these photos were taken by somebody charging money and claiming to know what they were doing they should be shot.

I've been asked to take some pretty daft photos before but thankfully I've never worked with anyone as mad as the (happy/confused) couples above, yet.

All that being said clearly, they haven't got pictures they can put on the wall (not without guests bursting into laughter on arrival) but they were helping keep the internet a jolly funny place to be.

Photo Project 1, 24. Traditional or Lifestyle

Lifestyle? Well I thought about picturing my other half, she runs her penny saving themed blog and regularly returns with items she's reclaimed from charity shops and the like, but this seemed a little too obvious.
How about feeding pigs wearing black tie? Seems like a lifestyle choice to me.

The only change from the original was saturating the colours.
This picture is of a gentleman referred to as Mutley, who was hosting a wedding reception on his farm – naturally the pigs still need feeding regardless of attire. The wedding was of the lovely couple Kate &Rob Crothers.

Photo Project 1, 7. Holding an Object

Well rings are held to ones hand with a finger aren't they? Well that's tenuous enough for me!

I've got lots of picture of rings on fingers, but this is a little more special to me... This finger and ring combo happen to belong to my other half, who is now referred to as my wife to be. I'm not allowed to use the F word.

Business Cards...

This week I've been working on a batch of business cards, it went through a few concepts and I was really grateful for all the feedback I got from friends.

1. Ring and information, taken from this picture.

2. Confetti with information, taken from this picture.

3. Without the background to keep it clean and tidy.

After a couple of days of pondering and suggestions from friends I ended up with these

Top is the front and below is the back of the card.
The front no longer has any information on it and i made the text easier to read with a simple outline. On the reverse I tidied up the information, removing the "Tel", "Web" and "Email".

In-between these screen shots and sending it off to the printers I brought the logo swirl in by 5%, as I know printers often muck up the edges... It'd annoy me if it got trimmed off.

Photo Project 1, 3. Emotion.

Right, despite what I said on the last picture about avoiding coffee... it's back.

Colours tweaked and given a retro feel. Also, the heart was taken from a different photo as it lined up with the blank side of the mug - which was annoying.

Mug from here...
Heart from here
But for those of you who think a wedding photographer should have more emotional pictures than a mug of coffee I have a spare.

It's rare I change the picture ratio - but here it worked well cutting out the stained glass, bringing focus in to the newly weds (Matt & Olivia).
I struggled to re-edit these, as to be honest I'd played with every setting before hand... so if all else fails just make it look more vintage. For bucket loads more emotion visit my portfolio.

Dartmeet - Yet again.

I was up at Dartmeet a couple of weeks ago for Matt & Elly's wedding but was back again so decided to do a 10second challenge.

This shot was taken about 100m up stream of where we took the photos on the bridge.
